How to Give Toasts

toastToasts are usually given at weddings and if you have been invited to give one, here are 5 tips you should follow to make sure that your toast goes as smoothly as possible.

1. Wait your turn. Ask the wedding organizer and clarify your place in line before the big day.
2. Have a commanding presence by standing tall, speaking loud enough and slow enough for everyone to hear and avoid drinking before your speech.
3. Make eye contact with the honorees and the audience then back to the honorees again towards the end of your speech.
4. Be personal but appropriate. Make sure to avoid bringing up stories and anecdotes that may embarrass the honorees and their families.
5. Keep it short and sweet. The shorter the better.

Toasts shouldn’t be that hard to give. But many fail to be successful at it and end up embarrassing themselves or worse, the bride and groom. So follow these 5 tips above and you’re sure to have a memorable toast that the couple will not soon forget.
