How to prepare five minutes before presenting

What other preparations do you need to do when you only have 5 minutes before you deliver your speech in front of an audience?

Five minutes may seem like a very short time to do anything valuable, but for speakers, especially the new ones, these five minutes could either make or break their confidence if not spent properly.

Here are three useful tips:

  1. Breathe deeply – this will calm you down and help you relax. A relaxed mind and body will help you deliver an excellent speech.
  2. Smile – Smiling also relaxes your face and will make you look more confident and well-prepared.
  3. Stretch or shake – Find a private area where you can do a bit of shaking and stretching. It will help make you feel a lot more alert and will make you feel less nervous.

These three tips of course would work well if you already have a speech prepared, you know your content very well and if you’ve already done a lot of practice.
